Who is RCRW?
We are a group of Wilmington-area retailers of hemp and hemp-derived products that pledge to abide by standards we have agreed upon until such time as a regulatory body is formed in NC to oversee our industry. Our goal is to employ best practices to ensure that sales of hemp products are conducted in a manner that prioritizes safety, compliance with any relevant laws and regulations at local, state and Federal levels and the well-being of our customers and the broader community.
Cannabinoids are a diverse group of chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant (Cannabis sativa). These compounds are responsible for many of the plant's therapeutic and psychoactive effects. Here's a breakdown of some of the key cannabinoids found in cannabis:
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)
THC is perhaps the most well-known and psychoactive cannabinoid in cannabis. It is responsible for the "high" or euphoric feeling that people experience when using cannabis. THC has various potential medical applications, including pain relief, appetite stimulation, and nausea reduction.
Cannabidiol (CBD)
CBD is another widely recognized cannabinoid, but it is non-psychoactive, meaning it does not produce a "high." It has gained popularity for its potential therapeutic benefits, which include anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing) effects.
Cannabinol (CBN)
CBN is a degradation product of THC, which means it forms when THC is exposed to oxygen and light. It has very weak psychoactive properties (can only be felt in massive doses--it is non-psychoactive for practical purposes) but may have potential for promoting sleep.
Cannabigerol (CBG)
CBG is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid known for its potential as an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agent. It is often found in lower concentrations in cannabis.
Cannabichromene (CBC)
CBC is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that may have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and neuroprotective properties. It's also found in relatively low concentrations.
Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV)
THCV is a psychoactive cannabinoid that may act as an appetite suppressant and has been studied for its potential in weight management.
Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid (THCA)
THCA is the acidic precursor to THC. It is non-psychoactive and needs to be decarboxylated (heated) to convert into THC. It has potential anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties.
